At work, I use a click pen. Everytime I put it down I click it shut. And then I click it open when I go to write. This strikes me as incredibly silly. But I do. If I use a click mechanical pencil, I will click to push the lead in everytime I put it down. _

Most people I do back and forth emails with are on gmail (this is not my work email), so I was momentarily confused when I looked at a back and forth I have going with Tracy and there was no little dot next to her name to tell me whether or not she was online. _

On weekends, I sleep like twelve hours a night. This allows my body to catch up on it's sleep debt that it incurs during the week. It also makes Monday mornings particularly miserable. This morning, Jasmine let me use her milk for my coffee, but skim milk is entirely different than half and half. Even if you fill your cup halfway with the milk (and microwave it, so the whole drink isn't cold), to make it the same color as if it were half and half. _

I can't figure out what my knitting pattern is trying to tell me to do. I tried googling it, but apparently no one else is having this problem. _

So, I went back to the Coffee Shop across the street from my office, because I was too tired to deal with the fact that we have no cream, and I wanted caffeine. Also, it is hot and humid enough that I wanted a blended coffee drink. In their oh-so-brilliant wisdom, they aren't doing blended drinks right now, so I got an iced latte and a muffin instead. The coffee is fine, although not sweet enough for my taste, and they never had the brilliant idea Cafe Fresco did and they don't have sugar water out to put in your cold beverages, so my sugar sank to the bottom. My muffin was crap. I ate about half, because I was hungry and I'm out of granola bars (hence, the muffin in the first place), and then I threw it out. It was like stale. It was a chocolate chip muffin and the chocolate chips had bloomed. On Tuesday, Gretchen and I went to the other local coffee shop, the one a couple blocks away, for lunch, and we sat in their cooshy chairs and ate quiche. It is far more ideal than this one. Also, the guy who is always behind the counter seems awesome. Too bad it's like completely out of my way for a coffee in the morning. _

I feel like a fiber junky. I read somewhere about dying yarn with Kool Aid, and I really want to try. Also, there is an alpaca festival in June, and I am mad about alpacas. And I want silk. _

I drink my coffee with cream and sugar, and feel bratty when there is neither. With enough sugar, I can stomach coffee without cream, but I don't think I can go the other way. Particularly not with the crappy coffee we get in our office. There was no cream this morning, so I put in a massive amount of sugar. It was like drinking hot sugar water with a vague coffee taste. Okay, it was gross. But my coffee was in my cup when I realized there was no cream, so what was I going to do? _

Has there ever been a watchmaker (in fiction) who doesn't wind up a psychopath?

Also, if you had long, blonde, incredibly noticeable hair, and there were like a zillion really scary people you were running away from, wouldn't you, oh, say, cut it off and dye it another color? Or at least wear a hat? _

When I finish the second of the very impressive sweater which scares me occasionally and makes me want to stab things with my knitting needles, I think I will, like, bury the pattern book so no one else will ever ask me to make them this sweater ever again. _

One of the reports I run every month spontaneously decided to link not to the real database, but to the test dummy database. I don't know why. I reset it back to where it's supposed to be, and now it's taking forever to run. I have no idea what's wrong. _

Finally, after many many months, I no longer have a roommate who throws a fit if I make popcorn. Brianne may make fun of me for putting parmasean cheese on my popcorn, but that is all. Gina would snarl that I made the house smell rotten. ((grumble grumble)) I never threw a fit when she cooked fish and onions, the smells of which would go lodge in my bedroom all night. _

I feel all mopey and miserable, and I want to go home. But of course I can't go home, because the odious roommate has not yet moved out, and I am the latest villain in the saga of people who have done wrong to poor blameless golden innocent her. Unlike professors and bosses, she will snap and yell and scream words that I do not say while standing outside. And so it has been suggested that perhaps I stay away from the house until, like Barnes and Nobles closes or her furniture is all moved out. And while the idea of spending several hours reading the latest Sookie Stackhouse novel (which I will enjoy, but not buy in hardback) and having something tasty to eat generally fills me with joy, the fact that I will be doing so because of the horrible person back at my house makes me miserable. Before I go to the bookstore, I will hang out and knit at the yarn store.

Oh, I am so miserable.

And apparently the internet connection at work has hiccuped again. _

The brightness on my monitor occasionally starts flickering. Sometimes it's barely noticeable, and sometimes it's truly distracting. Sometimes it's not there at all. I should probably take it to Apple, but I just know if I do, it will work, and they will glare at me like I'm wasting their time. _

Artfully chocolate is the perfect sort of shop. The truffles are divine, and they make no pretense about the fact that they don't make their own. When the introduce a new chocolatier, they have truffle tasting evenings, which is always a blast. The artwork for sale on the walls is always lovely, and while it's far beyond my price range, I do enjoy looking at it. And I have such a soft spot for orchids. I look forward to exploring their expanded store in the city when it opens, but I do also love that it's little and small and just around the corner. _
