Tori's Bloglet

I went down to computer services this afternoon, cause I haven't been able to check my email all week. Dave was on the phone when I showed up, and was on the phone for a while. I sat down, and waited, and eventually he asked me what I needed over the other person, and I told him, and he helped me get a new password. The other person eventually hung up, cause nothing they were doing was working, and I asked him if he had any idea of what I could do to watch divx files on my computer, and he told me to download Video LAN Client. Which, it turns out, doesn't exist for OS9. Damn. _

There is definately character change if you go from a scary vampire who used to torture people with railroad spikes to someone who babysits a fifteen year old. Even if while babysitting you beat up demons and steal a motorcycle. _

Yesterday I got an email petition thing from my friend Johanna that's supposed to be a war protest, in the hopes that if Americans say they are opposed to the war, it will end. Funnily, most of the people who'd signed it weren't from the US. It's still sitting in my inbox, as I debate whether to delete like I usually do with such chain letters. _

Almost randomly, QuickTime has decided that it doesn't hate the sound on divx files after all. I decoded one, it ate a lot of disk space, I watched it and deleted it, and then decided to see if another file was having problems (they'd all been having problems) and it worked just fine and dandy. So Brianne and I watched Buffy. And she asked that I please wait for her to come back before I watch more Buffy. So I am sitting here waiting. Will be reading Mendel, shortly. _

I finally got ahold of lightbulbs for my cool lights from Ikea which I bought on the way back to Annapolis at Christmas this morning. Now my room is finally bright! _

How come the First can run around as Buffy? And why when Dawn thinks she's a Potential does she start talking about becoming the Slayer when Buffy dies? If someone were to become a Slayer when Buffy dies, wouldn't there be three Slayers now? Isn't it really when Faith dies? _

So, they got a new harddrive, cause we had very little disc space (there was too little space to defragment the harddrive). And after they installed the new harddrive, the nice optical cordless mouse stopped working, for whatever reason. So we plugged back in an old mouse, which double clicks on things when you only click once. _

I ate the last of the cherry scones for breakfast this morning. (Early afternoon.) Huh. Scones made a wonderful breakfast, I wonder what I'll do tomorrow. _

This evening was my evening of weird musicals. First I watched the musical episode of Buffy, then later I watched The Nightmare Before Christmas. _

The "cancel download" and "cancel all downloads" shouldn't be so close together. And if they must be so close together, if you accidentally hit "cancel all downloads" when you resume one that you hadn't meant to cancel, it shouldn't start over at the beginning. _

Today I made cherry almond scones. They were "breakfast." (Breakfast at one, cause I got up at noon.) And our new harddrive came. Hurray for the new harddrive with lots of space. _

I made a fire this morning with no match. I was all set to use matches, but then the newspaper combusted before I'd even put the bark down. (There'd been a fire the night before, apparently it was still hot.) The logs caught nicely when I got them in there, and it's all warm and toasty. But not in here. _

This is all true, but if when on the verge of falling asleep and needing music to keep me awake, I need my rock 'n roll. The beat is louder, and that really helps. _

Went skiing again today, using my mom's pass and skis and boots. Her boots were a bit too narrow for my feet, and my feet got all cramped up and miserable after one run, so I stood at the bottom and waited for my friends, didn't find them, went into the lodge, where I found them, someone bought me french fries and cappucino and a coke, and then took me home. _

I finished my Buffy DVDs last night, or this morning. I skipped the fish episode, but I watched all the bonus features. Except commentaries, but I watched the commentary on "Innocence" cause it was Joss, and a very good episode. I didn't realize how late it was, cause there is no clock upstairs, and when I came down, with tired dogs in tow, it was past 4, and I still wasn't quite tired, but I figured I should go to bed, cause, well, it was past 4. I probably dreamed about Buffy, but I don't really remember any of my dreams, except the one I blogged earlier. _

I reread Girl, Interrupted this afternoon. I'd read it once before, when they were filming the movie and Harrisburg was crazy about it, cause they were filming it here, and it had people like Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie in it (I understand that it was agreed that Ms. Jolie was awesome, and Ms. Ryder was not). I like it as a book, and I liked the movie as well, I think, but I definately like the book better. The vignettes work in a way that it doesn't work for a movie. _

I dreamt last night that it was graduation day and it was almost about to rain, and they didn't know what they were going to do about it, and then my mom was playing around with a soccer ball with some kid, while everyone was waiting, and then a new soccer ball showed up, and somehow this segued into a dream about Utena. (Something about the ball coming from the Ends of the Earth, which as we all know, just like to mess with you.) _
