Tori's Bloglet

Yesterday I bought the second season of Buffy, and have now watched almost all of it. Things not to leave Tori home alone with, I suppose. I didn't watch the first episode, cause I feel like I watched it rather recently with Brianne and hadn't been particularly impressed. I have left the fish episode and then the last two. I think I'm going to take the antenna back outside, though, and watch Saturday Night Live in the hottub. _

I took my dogs to the groomers. The last time I did that they put a bow on one of them. I wonder if they'll do the same thing this time, cause it was really funny looking when they did. _

They are going to leave me home alone this weekend. Which means it will be up to me to build a fire to stay warm. I'm thinking of moving into a room with a space heater and the hottub. _

Skiing was fun. Toni had to learn, and I got a bit bored standing there waiting for her to ski a few feet, and would go quickly to the bottom, get on the lift, and come down. I did something like three runs in the time it took her to do one. Then her knees started hurting, so my mom and I did a blue run twice, at which point the arches of my feet started cramping up, so we stopped. It was a lovely night, the snow was nice, it was warm enough that I was warm enough in a fleece (and two shirts underneath) and glove liners. _

The local ski mountain, where my brother is an instructor, is doing this thing today where if you have a college ID, you can get skis and a pass and lessons if you want them for $20. My mom and I are going (she has a season pass) and so is her friend Toni, who has never skied before. So I went off to get money, so's to pay for my skiing (my mom will pay me back, she just had no cash, and she will pay me back for lunch yesterday, and the money I lent her today so she can buy lunch/dinner). So I checked out how much money I have in my account here, and it was surprisingly more than I thought it was, probably because I was paid back for all the books I've bought throughout the semester, and I never really spent Christmas money. So now I'm seriously considering Buffy... _

I went into my old school to run around and say hi to people this afternoon. I found out that I'm going to get a prospective, yay, hurray for another TCSer being at least interested in St. John's. And on Thursday I'm going to go over to dee's house and make her brownies. I had a blast, even though I don't know most of the people there anymore. (The school has people from pre-K through high school, so it's not just that they all graduated.) My brother counted, and there are apparently like six kids who have been there for more than three years. _

Man, I wish my head were obssessed with something that I could do something about. Like, that didn't involve me sitting here waiting for a new harddrive, or thinking about whether or not I can spare money to order the second season of Buffy from Amazon. _

So, my brother asked me to make meringues, and since I was feeling all antsy bored and wanting to bake something and my mom said the weather was good for it (it can't be humid when you make meringues), I said sure. I then spent rather a while trying to find the cookbook my sister usually uses when she makes them, eventually said fuck it, used the cookbook I could find, threw in some cream of tarter cause it wasn't in the recipe but ought to have been as well as some vanilla extract. The things took more than two hours to cook, but they're quite tasty. _

Something was wrong with the flour, and my bread tasted nasty. Or, well, the dough tasted nasty, so we are going to compost it. We are sad. _

I liked The Hours in that depressing sort of way. Now, at my mom's request, I am making split pea soup, for which we had none of the spices it called for (parsley and marjoram). And I decided to bake bread, it is mixing in the mixer as I type this. Mmm...Bread. Split pea soup with no ham. _

Our new hottub toy is really rather a lot of fun. It loses heat, though, when you're in it for a while. We got in and it was 104, and when I got out it was 96. Two hours had gone by, and it is rather chilly outside. _

I had this thing with our James readings, apparently. First I did the wrong reading. Then on Thursday, I did the right reading, but took Darwin to class, and didn't realize it until it was 8. _

I want to go to the video store and see if they have Buffy cause I swear the last time I was there I saw the Sopranos or Six Feet Under (or both) and I want to make raspberry scones, but we have no sugar. And I want to cut up cucumbers and mix them together with feta and vinegar and oil. But we have no cucumbers, or feta. And I have no car. _
