While I was in Vermont, one evening I was thirsty, and I walked in this room, and my mom was sitting on the couch with a glass of what looked like ice water, and so I took it from her and drank, and it turned out to be a gin and tonic. Which it turns out I don't like. _

We used a strobe light in lab this morning in an attempt to see the way a strring was vibrating more easily. It made my head feel all weird and then my stomach started hurting a big. But it was cool all the same. _

Everytime (okay, it's now been twice) I've been driving back to Annapolis from home through tons and tons of snow up at home and called school from our cell to check if there are actually going to be classes the next day, ot see if I actually have to try to come home through the stuff, it's been raining in Annapolis, and they're a bit mystified when I ask. _

I don't like Middlemarch. There have been a few conversations (okay, two) that I liked , but they were each about five lines long or something. I don't like the characters, I'm not interested in plot, although I can't seem to discern a plot, and I don't like the writing style. _

Some dad of someone on my brother's soccer team (at least, I think that's who this guy is) found this great trip to Ireland thing for not very much money at all, and my family, or rather my parents, have decided that it really is cheap enough that we're all going to do it. Probably. For a week, in Spring Break, cause all of our Spring Breaks coincide, except for my little brother's, but that's okay, cause they won't care terribly if he goes off to Ireland for a week. _

Rollercoaster Tycoon recently came into our house, and it has absorbed more computer playing time than any of the other addictive games in the house. It beat out Civ III, which I'm not quite sure why about myself. It's much better for William the six year old than Civ was, cause that required a lot of reading and he doesn't read. Ah, well, to Middlemarch and a warmer room for me. _

I got a $50 gift certificate to Amazon for Christmas, and so did my brother and sister, so we figured that ordering all together would be a good idea, cause then shipping will be cheaper, but now I can't find mine, and I don't know what to do. _

The problem with wood stoves is that they heat up the room they are in and that's it. So, our living room is nice and toasty, and the upper living room is to, but they're really one room. The rest of the house is really cold. _

Oh, Cass, we drove by Albany today and last Saturday. Last Saturday we were in a bit of a rush to meet my grandparents. This Saturday I thought of calling up up and seeing if you wanted to get together and eat lunch/dinner, but I figured my brothers and Jamie wouldn't be thrilled with the sitting down for meal thing, and I didn't have your number on me anyway. _

And we spent luxurious (spelling?) time at the spa. Well, yesterday was a particularly luxurious day, where they we hung out and lounged around in hot tubs and so forth (or I did, and my sister and cousin and aunt excersized, but I didn't have excersize clothes) and then we went off and ate lunch, and then we went off and ate lunch, and then went back and they did lovely things to us, and then we lounged around (i.e. sat in really comfy chairs in bathrobes and flipflops and read and then sat in the hot tub and then the steam room) for several hours before we finally went home. Where, eventually, my uncle served venison stew, and my brother and I ate macaroni and cheese. It took a really long time for dinner to be ready. We hung out. We ate cheese. The grownups all started drinking gin and tonics. My cousin and I went out and bought grenadine and gingerale and marachino cherries so's to make Shirly Temples for those of us who didn't want to drink gin and tonic. _

My uncle spent a good deal of time last night trying to convince me that I should rejoin them at the Philly Folk Fest this year, that I should do volunteer work there, cause that way you don't have to spend the money to get in, and that I could camp out with his people, and this time I won't have to babysit the child from Hell the way I did the last time I went. (She was a horrible horrible little girl. At least to babysit. Whenever I was there and her mom was not, and sometimes just when I was there, she would scream and scream, and there was just about nothing I could do to get her to stop. Beautiful two year old, just a horrible one to babysit. Apparently her parents still ask him sometimes how I'm doing, and whether or not I survived. And I'm not the only one who has called her the child from Hell.) The most tempting part of the arguement that he made was that...sorry, Arlo Guthrie has played like every year except the year I was there. _

So, the skiing was totally lovely, except that I haven't done it in ages, and so I had this odd mixture of being really confidant and then scared and falling down a lot. (My scariest fall was the time I wound up on my back going down the mountain head first, not being able to see anything other than the sky, but knowing that I was vaguely near some trees.) And so then I slowed down a bit and had a very good time. Unfortunately, there were a couple of runs without a whole lot of snow, and so there were quite a few rocks there, and my sister ran over one, and we didn't get damage insurance, and so now we own a pair of skies. But it was lots of fun, and it was really pretty. _
