Tori's Bloglet

So, I got home and our walls are repainted, a hole that's been in our wall for ages from a time my little brother got mad and when he was on his way to his room threw his body against the wall was fixed (yeah, the hole was fixed if that wasn't easy to parse). And our stairs are now a very pretty dark green. It was a totally cool surprise for Peg e to to for us. _

We head off to Vermont first thing in the morning for the week. It's exciting. I have to pack. Also, while for whatever reason, my sister's iBook and my mom's Titanium are going up, I don't think I can get to whorfin from their computers, and so I will disappear from this for a bit. So, goodbye all, I'm off to ski and spa and have a good time with my family for a week. _

I must say that I did quite enjoy the movie, despite differences from the book. And the lack of Tom Bombadil. _

And in the little minor Christmas we had this evening, the one my mom decided to do before we all go off to Vermont, I got a lovely winter jacket and a red chenille cable knit scarf. A lovely dress winter jacket, that was. And my sister gave me a pile of books including an old falling apart Greek to Latin and back again dictionary and a handful of other things in Greek and Latin. And theny my stepbrother and I sponteneously put white Christmas tree lights on our banister. We are maybe going to do coloured lights on the top banister, to make William the six year old happy. (William the six year old is as good an epithat as many in Homer, and much more understandable than something like "Hector, tamer of horses" when he tames no horses or "Menelaus of the great war cry" when really, what does that mean? William the six year old is very explantory.) _

When my dad had asked me what I wanted for Christmas, among a few other things, I named off a few Sandman books and mentioned Neil Gaiman. So I got American Gods (which is a lovely book, and thanks to Moss being wonderful, I got for my birthday) and two other books that I'd never heard of called World's End and Briefl Lives. (One of the things about divorced parents is that you have many many Christmases. We used to do like five or something, cause my stepdad's parents are divorced as well.) I also got two lovely prisms to hang in my window and make rainbows all over my room and a teapot which came with matching cups, but one of them was broken, and the whole set was yellow, so it is going back to the store to be exchanged for green. And a CD of swing versions of Christmas carols. And a lot of total junk in my stocking that I will probably, eventually, throw away. _

I got a ticket to see the Lord of the Rings tomorrow. I'm going with roughly the same group of friends as I went to see the Phantom Menance with. And this modem thing sucks. _

I had this weird dream which involved trying to grow this frog, which was a very odd frog, cause we'd had it as a tadpole and all gotten really attatched to it, but then it was like an egg again, and that was weird. But what was really horrible was that while it was an egg again, something weird happened to it and there was like no casing around the egg, and we were trying to keep it safe and healthy until it turned into a frog. It was much like that horrible egg experiment. Anyway, it involved putting this sort of egg thing on mayo in a bowl, and we kept having to change mayo. The part of the dream I remember most was running through this grocery store to get mayo from these sushi chefs and going "Oh, look, there's Neil, buying groceries cause he just moved back to Annapolis" and waving and running on. And then it died and we were sad. _

I packed up all the books that I need to take home with me (the Principia, the Mechanics manual, Racine's Phedre in both French and English, my French dictionary and Middlemarch). I saw my Greek books and said, nah, i don't need those. Then later I remembered that I still have my precept paper to write and send off, so I packed up the three books I use all the time when doing Herodotus (my lexicon, the censored Greek and the Loeb, which isn't censored) and packed those up too. But my backpack by this time was all full, so I put them in a suitcase. And for good measure I decided to bring home David Grene's Herodotus so that if I feel inspired I can look at that. So many books...My backpack is practically back breaking. _

I think Mr. David's opinion of me balances out Mr. Borjesson's. When our precept started today he apologized for not being at my Don Rag as he was unable to be there cause of a Don Rag for another student. He said he'd send in a report which would be favourable, asked how if it was okay, when I said it was okay I guess, he said that was good, and that if it had gone badly, and he had been there, he would have defended me. I thought it was sweet. _
