I have been reading the Oxy and Millie archive, and am at the school uniform bit. This remindd me of the time someone, having bought a list of addresses and names of private schools, presumably, sent my old school a catalogue of school uniforms. We stared at it, briefly, in horror, laughed a bit (we barely even had a dress code: I think it said something like "do not wear anything that would violate the normal standards of decency in downtown Harrisburg, although no one objected if you pajamas.), flipped through the whole book, and threw it away. _

Twice I have had odd dreams, and then dreamt that I woke up, and needed to tell people about my dream. In one of them, the person I was talking about what I'd dreamt to had been in my dream, and in the dream where I was relating the dream, he said that he'd had the same dream. It was very odd. _

I seem to be learning all sorts of useful things like the Ancient Greek (Ionic Greek, at that) word for "to water". _

I just spent good deal of time flipping through my lexicon trying to find a word, giivng up and going to Perseus, only to find that it is a form of the definate article, only Ionic, which is why it looked so weird. Argh. _

The one lecture of the semester that I saw and went, wow, I definately want to go to happens to also be the lecture that in July I went "Wow, Suzanne Vega is playing at the Ram's Head. Wow..." and got tickets saying "well, what's missing one lecture?".... _

Is it appropriate to write an email to someone who was your brother's best friend when they were kids, but you haven't seen in a while, when you find out that the friend's mother died? And if yes, what exactly do you say? _

Okay, so, in some version of the Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy, he discusses these shapechanging/very quickly evolving aliens. (Very quickly evolving aliens being that they will "evolve" into something with arms that are just long enough to reach whatever it is they wanted to reach, and then "evolve" into something else entirely.) They are on an alien ship, and they find out that it is the captains ship, and, without knowing it, fool the first mate who pops up on the screen to talk to the captain by each sitting in the captain's chair, thus, the first mate thinks that the captain is fine and normal, and then the chair turns into the Ravenous Bugblatter Beat of Traal, and tries to eat them, and they all teleport off and that's when Ford and Arthur wind up on the B Arc. Does anyone else remember this? _

Rather than do anything particularly productive in the past few days (except for not doing nearly as much Greek as I ought to have done), I have been playing the Sims and reading Ozy and Millie. _

I would like to play Bridge. Or Spades would be okay, and it's easier to teach people. But a card game along those lines, that is not Hearts,a s Hearts is entirely different, would be lovely. _

Depsite the ladder-like stairs or the amount of stairs, I miss both of my other two rooms at St. John's. My Paca loft double was lovely and private, and my single last year had a lovely view, and no one was above me playing drums, or whatever it is that they are doing up there. _

I must say one thing about freshman lab. As much as I detested the class, and particularly the tutor, there was something nice about not havint to write lab reports. _

Why is it that now that I no longer want to keep my nails long, because short just makes everything that much easier, they seem to grow faster than they ever did when I was keeping them long? _

I have realized that part of what is making my preceptorial so lovely is thateminds me of the last non-Johnny greek course I took, which was lovely, except that Mr. David is way cooler than Prof. Mastrangello was. (Thi is not to say anything bad about pr. Mastrangello, but Mr. Davidis damn cool.) _

I was a coke machine, once. It was this big box, painted red with white on it, so it looked like a coke machine. It came about down to my feet, which was miserable while trick or treating. I tried wearing it between houses, and that didn't work, and then I tried to carry it between houses, but I was too little, so my mom carried it between houses, which was really nice of her. I went as Neil Gaiman's Death my freshman year, and my hair still hasn't recovered from the nasty black stuff. Last year I went as an Argentine prostitute (this was particularly funny if you'd been to either of the two tango classes Gus and James taught the two weeks before Halloween where I was the girl and was deemed "the honourary Argentine prostitute"). I haven't a clue what I'm going to be this year, and the Black Ball is tomorrow night. _
