Tori's Bloglet

There seems to be a problem with isolating two infants with no one around them speaking and having there be goatheard who brings in goats to feed them. (Aside from all the nasty things it would do to the kids heads.) Which is: what is going to keep the goats from making noises? If that is the the only thing the kdis ever hear, aren't they going to make noises like a goat? Chances are 'bekos' os closer to the sound a goat makes than it is to the Phrygian word for bread. _

Aspyr has great tech support. I emailed them with my Sims skin problem this afternoon, and I already got a response. (Granted, it wasn't terribly helpful, but still.) Totally unlike Netscape, who I emailed a question to once last fall and heard back from several months later with a "sorry it's taken us so long, are you still having Netscape problems?" and then, when I said yes, another one a few mmonths later, and then eventually, my problems went away, and I still don't know why, and I haven't heard from them again. _

To Preston (Cause I can't link to your entry cause I really have no idea what Im doing): "What do you want?" is an incredibly overwhelming question. "What do you want to do right now?" is probalby one of the more easy forms to be answered. But if you were to ask "What do you want?" you could get totally overwhelmed. It all depends. If you ask someone in the dining hall, they are probably likely to say that what they want is a decent, edible meal. I, for one, have an icnredicly hard time answering the questions "what do you want for Christmas?" or "What do you want for dinner?" So, in general, the answer to that question is never quite as simple as you might wnat it to be. _

Have any of you heard the word "per" ("per" being short for "person") used as a nongender specific pronoun? No, neither had I, but I was just wondering. _

I have a Sim I named Will Kemp. He really should be an actor, but the only job that ever seems to be available to him is to be in the military. (Which he currently is, cause he needs money to buy food and stuff.) _

Home is nice and good, which I'd hoped for. I went to a lovely potluck dinner with all my grownup women friends, except a lot of them were missing, but still...And then on the way home I had a good (emotionally taxing and stressful, but constructive and good) talk with my brother's girlfriend. _

I was reminded tonight during seminar that I am not here to try to discover truths of the universe. I am here to learn what the Great Minds of our culture have thought, leading to why we are the way we are. This vaguely cheered me up while people were busy bashing athiesm. _

The thing about the Sims is that the sims are completely unable to do more than one thing at a time. They are, for example, unable to talk to someone and make dinner at the same time. _

It also frustrates me to no end that if I make a statement of what I like or don't like about the way people are talking/behaving with their signifigant other, (paritcularly what happened tonight) and I just get given this look and get a question that is more like a demand that I never say such thigns again of "well, you've never been in a relationship, have you?" _

So we were all sitting there in lab, talking about Newton and we were all confused (or at least I was confused, I have this feeling other people were confued well, but they were hiding it better), and this senior walked in and said "I'm giving you donuts, cause I brought donuts to my class, and we're done with them now, and so..." And we all stared at her kind of blankly, and she sort of kept talking, cause we were just sort of staring at her, not saying anything. And then she put the donuts down on the table and started to leave the room, at which point it occurred to us that we should say thank you, and so we started calling thank you after her. And so we had donuts in lab this morning, and it was lovely. And they were good donuts, unlike the few I've picked up in the dining hall which make my stomach feel funny after I've ben eating them. _
