--Too Early to Plan--

The combination of goats and modern sculpture would be greater than the sum of it's parts. _

If you wanted to get from Penn Station to the Cloisters in a sane amount of time, how would you do it?  This notion of doing a 1 day round trip is starting to seem possibly unrealistic.  I'm worried that we'll be left with 2 hours in the museum in exchange for 12 hours of public transit.  _

Google is lying about it's ebooks being open.  I had wondered about this, when I heard the NPR story, saying it could be read anywhere, except the Kindle.  Since the Kindle can read text files, this didn't make any sense to me.  _

graywhite
The present batch of kittens. There is a 3rd gray kitten, nearly indistinguishable from the two pictured. It's rather hard to photograph kittens that crawl all over you before you even have opportunity to sit down. Saturday I should have some time to play with them when there's decent light. They're significantly smaller than they should be at this age, which is vaguely worrying, but they are eating. Their mother was a stray, only 4 pounds, they were found in a shed. _

Is it wrong to get kittens so dizzy they fall over, and sit there freaked out and trying to pounce on the floorboards to stop them moving? _

Anyone want to go shares on a roast goose with chestnut-prune-pancetta-pumpernickel stuffing from Debbie for Christmas?  Alternately, anyone want to come over for Christmas and help eat one?

I appear alarmingly and uncharacteristically consistent on the question of malicious leaks:  I didn't like Robert Novak, I don't like Julian Assange, I don't like their motives, they both exude slime, and basically, I find them irritating because they've made the case for government transparency harder to make, they're both terrible free speech martyrs, they should be grumbled at, but they can't be allowed to be prosecuted.   The world needs the pathway used by Wikileaks to exist, though it certainly didn't need everything that was shoved through it here.  Our system of classification is too abusable and counterproductive for us to allow it to become effective.  In both these cases, I feel like the necessary ineffectiveness has been exploited in an unfortunate manner, which creates a temptation for people like Joe Wilson and Joe Lieberman to make political hay demanding that it be made effective.  _

Erika made pozole last week.  It was the first time either of us ever cooked with hominy.  Hominy is bizarre and wonderful, in the way many old-fashioned preserved foods are.  Sort of like corn anchovies.  It's easy to forget how recently people have starting having all this fresh food available.  _

If anyone feels a burning need to explain why political violence is a clever idea for solving all our problems, and opposition to it is tantamount to belief in a police state, or just wants to criticize my appearence, here is a good spot. _

Peace rarely comes from the resolution of conflict.  More often, it comes from it's indefinite postponement. _
