Space is an excellent middle name.  Very nearly anyone's name can be improved by giving them the middle name Space.  _

I actually disliked the Smiths in high school for exactly this reason, and had a similar revelation later. I continue to dislike solo Morrissey as a sop to my younger self. It's possible to like the Smiths and not Morrissey. It requires skillful, dedicated obtuseness, but it's possible, and I'm living proof.

Edit: This made the festive fifty in 2007: apparently a web radio station is trying to take over for John Peel. I am not sure how I feel about this. I will need to listen to it. _

This was last weekend, the one with the couple inches of very wet snow, not the giant piles of dry snow we had this weekend. The red bits are vast quantities of berries. The houses are the end of the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge and the beginning of the beachside slums of Newburyport. _

We are building a gingerbread house.  I think I may make a gingerbread mortgage, or possibly lots of gingerbread mortgages, and then bundle them into a gingerbread financial instrument, which will turn out not to be worth the gingerbread it's made of after we eat the gingerbread house. _

The MBTA is doing what it can to promote alternative transportation. I certainly would have done better cycling today. Good luck getting home, Moss. _

A remarkably pure, if inept, example of trolling on the town list, from one of the older inhabitants, who has almost certainly discovered the joys of trolling independently.

We read so much on this List about how many people "love" cats. Are the people who really don't like cats - "keeping quiet?" _

I have difficulty not eavesdropping on sign conversations.  Not that I understand a word, but it's people talking with their mouths shut!  It's so neat looking!  It seems rude to gape, but there we are.

Empirically, RAC is my favorite artist on T61. I've never really understood remixes before. Now I know why, I was going about it all wrong. I was listening to remixes of songs I knew and loved. It's the songs that have something profoundly wrong with them that need remixing. After hearing this, I thought, wait, I thought the Kaiser Chiefs were dumb ugly hooligan rock. And I went and listened to the original, and so they are. After doing that, I can now hear this version that way as well, but somehow the thuggishness has been undermined by the shiny glittery things and the Jpop chorus. You can't leer and scowl effectively when you're glittering. It doesn't work. _

There are a lot of upset people in the world. This site, for example, is very upset about the plight of the 'nearly 30 year native' white geese on the Charles River. This particular phrase is a glorious example of attempting to co-opt the moral weight of a term (native wildlife) while using it to mean the exact opposite. More sample prose: "This is walled off with a bizarre wall of introduced bushes which serve no viable function except to starve the geese." This particular site appears to have been upset about these bushes for the past 4 years. Also about leash laws, dog parks, flood control and various other things that the evil heartless destrucive local government is doing. Remind me never to go into local government. _

This is now a historical document. The drawers that basket is sitting on have been transferred to the basement and replaced with a new acquisition. Now I can put things away! I haven't yet mind you, but I could. _

Since I am trying to not reinjure my knee, which is still playing up, despite a complete cessation of badminton and cycling and kneeling chairs for like months now, I should probably not go cross country skiing tomorrow.  Grar humph.  Maybe I will anyway. _
