Cannot...read...Cicero. Shane decided that it would be relatively appropriate to election day to read letters Cicero wrote right after he was exiled. but I cann't concentrate. Aah. the werewolf was more amusing by far and away (did you know that the Romans believed in werewolves?) _

Soon I will have small dogs. And my bank is busy being stupid. But I will have my mom's dogs in a few hours, and this makes me ridiculously happy. Yay for small dogs. _

The insurance company isn't going to pay to replace any personal items left in the car which was stolen. I'm now all upset. I spent good money on CDs which were in that car. _

We are going to get champagne to celebrate Kerry's victory. And we're just going to pretend that the other option doesn't exist in our house when we go to the liquor store. (We'll save the champagne.) _

On my way to Penn to drop off the worksheet I spent most of yesterday not working on, I figured out how, exactly, spending my day playing around on Lemony Snicket websites related to that worksheet. It's a stretch, but it's fun. Lemony Snicket writes about the Baudelaire Orphans. Baudelaire wrote Les Fleurs du Mal. "Au Lecteur" is quoted in "The Wasteland." So is Petronius. (Or else Petronius was quoted in Prufrock? Prufrock is the other connection to Snicket, so that would work as well.) Petronius was on the worksheet. QED and so forth. _

So, I was watching TV last night, and there was an anti-Kerry commercial by the Swift Boat Veterans for truth. (I thought they got in trouble ages ago and weren't allowed to do stuff anymore, but that'sn ot the point.) The point was, all of the veterans said that part of torture had been to admit to doing what the stuff Kerry testified in congress. They didn't say he was lying, they said that they had gone out of their way to avoid saying it. It was, probably, one of the stupider arguments I've ever heard. _

I have spent far more of today looking for the hidden eyes on the Lemony Snicket movie site than I have translating Petronius about a werewolf (which received more of my attention than Seneca about Thyestes, and I haven't even touched Plato today). Aah! In the book, does Olaf have a name for his acting troupe? _

I seem to be voting at someone's house. It strikes me as incredibly odd. Everyone assures me that it's normal, and my sister asked me why I think it's weirder than voting at a church. For the record, I think it's weird to vote at a church, too, cause of the seperation of church and state and whatnot, but I thought voting at to be at a public place. Not someone's house. _
