Last night we got me a mattress. Hurray and huzzah. I tried to set up my bed this evening, but I have no screws for attaching the mattress frame to the headboard and footboard. So, until I get to a hardware store, I am sleeping on my mattress on the bedframe.

There are handymen hear to replace our leaky sink and I think they're doing something to make it so we can use the dishwasher, but I'm not sure. The leaky sink is very exciting. They woke me up.

I had the coolest "I went to St. John's" experience yesterday. This girl got all excited, cause her mom was really into St. John's, then hesitated, to make sure that I meant our St. John's, and not the one in New York, then asked, "Did you ever have...oh...I forgot her name...She wrote a book that was called Homeric Moments or something." Turns out Ms. Brann is like her academic hero.

It's nice to be able to 20MB of stuff in your email and not have Yahoo flipping out at you. I don't think I could have even signed in to get Cassie's pictures with yahoo before now, and gmail is just like "hi, you're using 2% of your space.)

My socks gave out as socks today. I'm not entirely sure when it happened, but I'm sure it happened before I walked from 33rd to 46th with the extra blocks from Locust to Spruce thrown in. And I'd taken out the inserts from my boots, cause they were wrinkling and causing blisters. I think my entire feet are blisters. And I carried Liddell and Scott (I use the Middle Liddel) and Smythe and their Latin equivalents around all day on my back. My shoulders ache ache ache.

And so, because I went away this weekend, I go off to my first Greek class far less prepared than I ought to be, with the vocab of the last two pages of today's reading known because of Perseus, which I swore I wasn't going to use. I have no intention of this becoming a habit, and, fortunately, there will probably not be another going away party for people who are heading off to scary parts of the world.
