I read The DaVinci Code on vacation. I enjoyed it. I didn't think it was particularly well written (the expose flashbacks annoyed me to no end) but I also couldn't stop reading it. _

They "burnt ice" today at TCS. It was really cool looking. They had calcium carbonite rocks, and they put some ice over top, and dropped in a match, and it looked like the ice was burning. _

At the movie theatre, the woman working at the concession stand had a Bush pin on. I had a Kerry pin on, and she sort of glowered when she realized what mine was. _

I recently reread The Blue Sword and The Hero and the Crown. I love Damar. Someone, once, said that they thought Robin McKinley's faerie tales are her best, but I really think Damar is her best.

I love Luthe. _

I spent this morning in Utena lala land, which was nice and fun. (Did anyone notice that no one in Ohtori has pupils?) For whatever reason, the second disc won't copy, and this makes me sad. And I'm about to go away, and so the top of my netflix queue is Marija's stuff, and so I can't watch more Utena til after I get back from California. _

I learned how, sort of, to make a tiny little marble. It was a bit alarming, cause the glass getting on the rod thing is white hot liquid, much the consistancy of honey, which means it's fucking hot, and the furnace where the hot glass is is just scary. But it was fun and exciting. _

In a week, we are going on vacation to Catalina Island. I'm very excited. I want to go away very very badly. And I've never been to California; I've never seen the sun set over the ocean. (Water, yes, we live in a house which faces a lake to the west, and sunsets over the sound when we lived in Hatteras were lovely, and so was the sun over the Gulf when we were in Florida, but there's something special about the ocean.) And it's going to be with all my uncles, and that's always exciting. _

We are having a preemptive make up class for those of us who won't be in town while we're doing our first stuff in the hot shop in my glass class. It's really the two of us who don't give a shit about a grade, the girl who's graduating from Dickinson in the Spring, and doesn't care about credit, and me. And the other girl, who's only going to miss one, day, but I think she care about grades. _

I was very used to blogging via the blogbot, but then I didn't feel like logging onto AIM, cause it takes forever to boot up not to connect, but just for the program to be like "oh, yes, I'm a program." And so I was blogging from the web, which is very very different, and I was all confused. And for whatever reason, the numbers on my brother's keyboard stopped working. _

Tonight, while cutting glass, I tried to cut glass while sitting down. This is a mistake, see, cause it cuts fine, but then you have to lean over to the side of the table to do the breaking part. And while doing the leaning thing, the angle went all wrong, and I cut my wrist. It was a very shallow cut, and I'm sure if it weren't on my wrist, it wouldn't have bled much at all, and I was all set to ignore it, but then I had to go get a bandaid. In other glass news, my thistle looks far better than I was expecting, I can barely see the mistakes in my chessboard, and the throw bits of glass next to each other in a bowl turned out really nicely, and it looks totally awesome when I hold it up to a street light. And, when I get back from Catalina, I will start learning how to blow glass, which was the entire point of the endevour. _
