Tori's Bloglet

Last night, I sletp on wet hair. I woke up this morning, and my hair is all curly. It's bed-head curly, though, so while individula locks are all curling, none of them go straight down. _

One thing I really like, is when I've spent several days too lazy and tired and busy to take a shower, and I have this vague idea that the hottub cleans you off somewhat, even if Iwind up smelling of bromine when I get out, when I finally do take a shower, how lovely and clean I feel. _

Andrew sent me directions to the wedding. They were very much like most directions I receive from people other than my sister; they were full of all sorts of landmarks and whatnot. It was cute. As my directions to Lyndsay's grandfather house (what I weeded out of his directions into the 78 to 287 to this bridge to this road) failed miserably when I hit Long Island, I will probably wind up printing out the Andrew-speak directions, as well as the Tori-translated directions for when we actually leave. I wonder if it's a guy thing to give massive amounts of details with your directions. I gave these people directions today at work (go north on 83, that's the one right here, take 581 when it splits, then follow signs for 81 S, you can't possibly miss it, were my directions) and they couldn't quite follow until Jesse came by and gave them more detailed directions (stay in the left lane sorts of things). _

So, if James was 20 when Harry was born, Lupin would be around 35, and Tonks became an Auror a year before she was introduced to the books, so she's probably 23-ish. Hmm...That's starting to push the Jyles-issues in my brain. _

I served today this nice pair of women who were really friendly, one of whom talked alot about the Atkins diet, cause she'd broken enough of it before I offered her dessert. They left me $5 on a nearly $11 check, which was really sweet of them. Later in the day, there were these two people, a man and a young woman, and he ordered all her food. I kept trying to ask her things, like did she want water, etc, etc, and he kept answering for her. I thought it was really strange and unusual, and a bit asinine, and then later we started talking, and she's from China, and her English wasn't all that great. They were both really nice; she's doing a Ph.D program in Math at Hopkins, and he was her English teacher in China, and they'd gone off to see Niagra Falls and were on their way back to Baltimore. She did talk then, and she seemed really sweet, and I he seemed like a nice guy. I told them I was going on a trip to England, making them the first people who I told I was going away who were in the restaurant when I told them, and they thought that was a great idea. They didn't tip that well, but they were really nice. _

It was very much like Anya's death (or Gay Larry's), in that it was stupid, and you liked the character rather a lot, and there was very little point. Although, of course, there had better damn well have been a point, or else I will be really pissed off. There was little point to Anya or Gay Larry dying. _

I took my dogs to the vet this evening. The poor dogs. They both needed a few shots, and Ellie needed a general yearly checkup thing. They were so miserable. Then when I went home I decided to go home a different way than I'd come, a way I'd never driven before. It was an interesting adventure. There were signs to Siddonsburg then Lewisberry which I followed til I recognized where I was. It was really pretty. I've been having fun lately going down roads I've never been down before and seeing where they come out, or trying to find the alternate ways of getting home that everyone but me knows how to do. _

I quite liked Neville in this last book. Generally, I have thought of him as a foolish boy who was there just for that sake, and only began to think of him as anything else when we found out about his parents. Then I felt a bit sorry for him, but I still didn't care either way for him. But in the last book, I was very impressed by him. _

I am rooting for a future Lupin and Tonks relationship. Because they're both cool, and Lupin deserves a girl, and Tonks rocks. _

Aragorn. It must've been Aragorn.

Last night, I tried to remember who my quasi-recent fictional crush had been on. I was thinking it was Sirius, which was in true, but I figured it had to be someone else that I was remembering, and I couldn't for the life of me remember who. _

I don't want to go to work, I want to stay home and read Harry Potter. I realized last night as I was reading my new book, that the plot in this one is a bit less obvious than it often is, and so it's almost more about the world and the people than it is about something Harry Must Do. It reminds me in that of being like the third one, and this never occurred to me until last night that the third one was like this. But the first, second and fourth were like "Harry must: find out about and protect the Sorerceror's Stone/they must find the Heir to Slytherine and what's going on with the Chamer of Secrets/must pass the big test things" and because these plots were pretty set, the books fell out in the plots, and that was fine and dandy and whatever. But the third one and the fifth one, the plot is like "An evil murderer wants to kill Harry/Voldemort needs a weapon, the Ministry of Magic is Evil" and so these things are obviously looming over head, but they aren't taking all the time of the book up. And I like the world, and the characters, I think they are the best part. I like my Sirius. He makes me extraordinarly happy. _
