Last night I drove home through the snow storm. There was only rarely a salt truck in sight, and once the ground was wet rather than snowy, so I figure that a salt truck had already been through. In four wheel drive, I drove at like 40 most of the way. It was long and depressing (I am used to the signs that give mileage to York and to Harrisburg, and the mean between the two is the amount of minutes left to get home, but I couldn't do that last night) and stressful. My hands hurt from clutching the steering wheel so tightly. _

I picked up Harriet The Spy and started reading it this afternoon. I haven't read it in ages and ages, probably not since I turned ten. I hadn't realized how much neglet was going on those poor children's lives. _

I love my dogs. They are just the cutest sweetest little interactive teddy bears ever. Except the wet feet in my bed at 7 AM, that I could've done without. But when they settled down against my hip and on my feet and fell asleep, that was all sweet. _

My brother has more stuff on his computer than I do on mine. 5% of the disk space is free, and the computer wants 15% to defragment the harddrive, which it says needs to be done. I want to watch Buffy on this machine, but I don't want to take up the space. _

My family got a hottub and told me they didn't. It's cute and will be lovely. And hopefully I can find a bathingsuit, cause I think I might've left them all in Annapolis. _

I, however, really want to go out and buy shoes. I various different types of black shoes, something pretty and dressy, and something simple that's nice enough by not party shoes; I want wooden high heel sandals; I want good snow shoes; I want a pair of Docs, for whatever reason. _

Once, years ago, I was in a book discussion group where we read this book called The Moral Animal. It was about "evolutionary psychology" or something along those lines. The point of the book, along with every other chapter being biography of Darwin, was that anything anyone ever does is an attempt to get their genes into the next generation, according to the book, males with anything female, and females with the best males. I remember hating the book. And I keep thinking about it again and again with the Darwin we're reading now. _

We talked about Mr. Rogers at the beginning of math. Cause Mr. Beall asked how we all were, and Mr. Whitney said "Well, Mr. Rogers died this morning, and that's sad." _

Mary Jo said she told them she was a vegetarian, and they served her polenta. I told them I'm a vegetarian, and they served me mushrooms. I like polenta way better than mushrooms. _

We are going to start reading Mendel in lab when we get back from Break. Never mind that we are several chapters of Darwin behind everyone else. Fucking natural selection. (Note: This does not mean that I don't believe in Natural Selection, but we've been having stupid conversations about it for a week that make me want to scream.) _

I tried to defragment my harddrive this afternoon, because at some point this morning I was told I had 400 some MB of disk space, panicked, deleted a lot of stuff (who needs to non-functional copies of IE, or Photoshop 4.0 as well as 5.0?), took it back up to over a gig. But Norton won't defragment my harddrive cause it has system files on it, or something, and I need to boot from the Norton disk. Which I don't have. Damn. It did tell me, however, that my hard drive is severely fragmented. _
