If the damn thing weren't four hours long and in German and sung, it would make a damn fine Mabel movie. _

Woke up this morning, looked at my alarm clock. It read 11:30. I swore. I looked at my microwave, it said 10:30. I said, well, that's still not good, cause I was supposed to be in class 10 minutes ago, but not as bad as it could've been. Jumped up, grabbed books, went to lab. Realized that I'd forgotten completely about what I'd read. Which was okay, cause we really just planted plants. _

Hmm...Seminar. How odd. I'm not sure I remember where to go. It would be a very funny prank for Juniors (or any underclassmen, really) to take over a Senior Seminar classroom the first day back, cause we'd all be so confused. _

Mr. Borjesson is not on my Essay Committee. I had feared beyond any reasonable fear that he would be. When I found out that the committees were posted, I announced that if he were on mine, I might slit my wrists now to save myself the pain later. _

Saturday night/Sunday morning, on Third McDowell going to the bell tower I realized that I do remember where I have math and language. Lab is easy. The thing to worry about is where I have Seminar. I don't even really remember who's in my seminar. _

Very odd. My leg is almost starting to bruise where I tripped on the stairs on Saturday. It hurts hurts hurts, but yesterday it looked just like leg. Today I think I might be able to see a blue-ish bit. _

I'm terza rima, and I talk and smile.
Where others lock their rhymes and thoughts away
I let mine out, and chatter all the while.

I'm rarely on my own - a wasted day
Is any day that's spent without a friend,
With nothing much to do or hear or say.

I like to be with people, and depend
On company for being entertained;
Which seems a good solution, in the end.

It was the bell that was interesting. I mean, it's a goddamn button. I bet it was a lot more satisfying when you got to pull on a rope. (Although I understand bell ropes break, and so does some bit of wood, rather a lot). It should've felt far more clamactic than it did. _

I had a split infinitive in my paper. I'd said something like "Achilles fights with Agamemnon the only way he can which is to not fight along side him." Mr. Larsen scribbled on it, said it should be "not to fight." Brianne changed it back, cause it was a little confusing. She has this thing (actually given to her by Mr. Larsen from her freshman year) that talks about the five kind of people in the world. Those who don't know and don't care, those who don't know and care, those who know and care, those who know and blithely ignore, and those who konw and discern. We decided we should be among those who know and discern. _

To cut or not to cut: "In his need for a villain, Achilles is more like the modern idea of a superhero than any of the other characters we see. He may put Hector into the role of Lex Luther to his Superman, but there the similarities end. The modern superhero goes out to rid the world of evil because they believe good should be spread around the world. Achilles’ reasons for fighting his evil is because it threatens him, personally, not because it threatens the world at large." _

I have decided that the title of my paper is "Some are Born Great, Some Achieve Greatness: A Study of Heroic Excellence." It makes me happy, cause I almost wrote on Hamlet, and since I decided I couldn't get a paper out of Yorick and I want to study Classics anyway, I would like there to be Shakespeare somewhere. _

Once, towards the end of finals at Dickinson, someone had written Shel Silverstein poems all over campus in sidewalk chalk. The only thing I remember is that we were almost entirely sure it was a senior girl, cause it looked like a girl's writing, and a senior because she had the "hug of war" poem with "this meant a lot to me when I was a freshman" and blah blah blah. It was sweet, really. Neil's poem reminded me. _
