When I started typing the subject of an email just now (grocery list) my browser suggested 'grumpy kittens'.  Not today, but thanks for asking! _

We have three Euonymus, this one gets the least sun, and has been the first to change. Is this normal? Do happier trees change color later? _

I don't understand why I like this picture, but I do. It's the first picture of the inside of the house that I've liked. _

I just decided on a self-diagnosis: Patellar Tendinitis.   It's been 6 weeks, and I still can't hop at all on my right leg, my left leg isn't thrilled about it either, I totally hobble downstairs, and changing direction just isn't in the cards.  So as of today, I'm abandoning the kneeling chair for a bit, stopping DDR, cutting back on the cycling (it's wet leaf season anyway), and just being really careful at badminton.   If I had any sense, I'd take time off badminton, since that's the thing that's hardest on it, but wah!   My project of trying to pretend to be a healthy person seems to have backfired.  It's annoying, because while I'm not so good at actually hitting the bird in a useful way, I used to be pretty good at getting to it.  Now I can't do that either.

Playing a game of go every day, and it is becoming increasingly clear just how variable I am, sometimes I'm sharp and sometimes I'm muddled.  I am in the middle of a rough patch.   _

Gibbon uses myriad to mean 10,000!  I should not attempt to revive this usage at work, no matter how cool 'roughly one per myriad' sounds.   _

The children's book I read compulsively and endlessly was "Stand Back, Said the Elephant, I'm Going To Sneeze."  A rather short live-action version.

Debate thoughts:  I actively liked Khazai.  He seemed like a sincere, good, and deeply engaged guy, he said several wonky, unpopulist things that cheered me up, and made me think he doesn't have a prayer.  Capuano is a angry, dishonest cartoon of a man, running on pork and machismo.  Pagluica is a no-hoper, just a pile of money with a sense of entitlement.  Coakley seemed all right.  Anodyne, uncontroversial.  She gave me no reason to vote against her.

I'll try to find quotes later, but my favorite line of the night was Capuano saying that he'd been as close to the front lines in Afghanistan as they let a congressman go.  Also, he let us know he's half-Irish, half-Italian.  _

There's a fungus and lichen walk on Sunday in the Great Meadow, lead by a local Mycologist.  I am very excited.     _
