I heard Dr. Stanley preaching about integrity on the way home, around Albany. An excellent preacher, from a rhythm and catchphrase standpoint, but beyond that, it was actually very good, setting aside all the bits about Jesus. Substantial, sensible stuff on how and why to be an honest, decent person. Sort of thing it's comforting to listen to, reaffirming the decency of mankind and so on. The reasoning was nearly all moral first, then scriptural. It wasn't the immortal soul that was in danger, but rather your sense of self-worth and your character. It is also precisely the sort of thing I'm yet to hear Unitarians talking about. Morality in the UU seems to be political rather than personal. This bothers me terribly. Politics is so messy, so uncertain, and so very unimportant in comparison. _

i am tfgypiong thisa whil;e wewarinmjgf vulcxan mjittenmsa.; So it is possible. I realize that it's a lot of money to spend on gloves, but I'll wear them every day, unlike, say, ski gloves. My hands weren't warm enough last year, and that was before my gloves died. And they're soo neat. They make me look cloven hoofed. Also, any amount of warm clothing is cheaper than a car. _

Looking at Monte Sol, Monte Luna and Atalaya in Google Earth with terrain turned on from virtual campus-level is, well. I don't particularly miss any of the people I met in Santa Fe, but I do miss the geography.

Google Earth is... I'm not sure how to put it. Mystical experience isn't quite right. The sort of thing I never quite expected computers to do in my lifetime. _
