Julia's Bloglet

Music related to Starcraft. In 1999 some of the boys in the dorms discovered "Broodwar Rap", which is the first song on the music page. It's awful, but the chorus has stuck with me these five years and will occasionally pop into my head at unexpected times. Now people will be able to know what I am talking about instead of just thinkng I'm cracked when I burst out with, "Starcraft Broodwar, Blizzard Entertainment, in this game I run your face through the pavement!" _

In my dream last night I had an argument with a friend after she said that she didn't like the mint candies we had. I agreed with her that the candies were awful, but the argument arose over her calling them milkscotch.

"There just isn't such a thing as milkscotch," I said.

"Yes there is. It's like buterscotch that's been watered down," said she.

"Well butterscotch is nothing like mint, and these candies are mint," said I.

"I know," said she. "That's why they're milkscotch."

I was exasperated, but saw that she wasn't going to budge on this, so I offered her a Jolly Rancher instead of arguing further. _

To Do:

*Get outside and get some exercise I was going to do the deck yoga thing, but the deck was covered in spiderwebs and leaves, so I did the pick up leaves while listening to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and then come inside and dance flail around like crazy until the album was done thing. It was more fun than you might think.

*Drink 20 ounces of water We really need a new Brita filter.

*Make mp3 cd ready to send!

*Write for thirty minutes

*Assemble letters/packages

*Drink 20 ounces of water (and eat lunch) Those frozen burritos honestly taste good in spite of having soy cheese in them. It's amazing.

*Roll coins

*Write for thirty minutes

*Dishes

That's a good start anyway. _

We decided Martin's game suggestion would cause severe injury or death, but the principle was good, so we adapted it. See, we have these terrifying Trivial Pursuit Jr. Pringles, so we decided to play for chips. the one who correctly guesses gets to eat the chip and dip it in Nutella. Except the questions are far too easy, so we had to add our own complicating factors. This from a name that tune style round:

Me: Does the sun...
Moss and Madre: Yes!
Me: Produce solar energy...
Madre: No!
Me: No?
Moss: Fusion!
Me: You're right!

The rest of the question was by fusion or fission. _

Question that occurred to me as I was walking. What are your favorite high energy songs? Ones that make you bouncy. I ask because having songs like this around is a good idea when one needs to have an energy boost. _

How often do you sing along with music you are listening to? Will you do it in front of others? If so, do you feel self-conscious then? Do you sing in the shower? In the car? Do you have specific things you sing in those places? How do you feel about other people singing along with things in your presence? _

I am going to break my usual political silence to say this. So, you know what would be great? If Kerry's campaign launched a run up to the election Terror Hunt to combat the fear of the Bush Administration producing an Osama Bin Laden Press Package of Delight in October. It could be like a really big game of capture the flag. The Dems could arrange for Kerry and Edwards to capture Osama with their bare hands. They could make a big reality TV show out of it. Force Bush and Kerry to live in an apartment furnished by CNN. They'd have to keep their Terror Hunt tactics secret from each other. Maybe they could participate in teambuilding exercises some of the time, too. Fuck debating. _

There's a part in one of the Anne books (Anne of Windy Poplars I want to say) when Anne and Gilbert are writing back and forth and one of them talks about how some pens are too scratchy to write in a satisfying way, and with others things flow and you could just write forever. The character says it with much more panache than I just did, but I am writing a story right now with a pleasingly fluid pen, and I thought, to myself, "Oh my yes, Anne/Gilbert definitely had a point." _
